Pastor Mike Barrera came to United Baptist Church back in 1997. He is a native of Laredo and he graduated from Nixon High School in 1966. He is also a graduate from Southwestern Baptist Theological seminary where he received his Master’s degree. His undergraduate work was in theology and his Master’s is in Religious Education. He was also named one of Laredo’s 100 greatest athletes in the last 100 years. He has many civic and denominational responsibilities and is presently the chairman for the Laredo Salvation Army’s advisory board. He also served many years on the board of the Laredo Boys and Girls Club of Laredo. He is presently the resolutions committee chairman for the Baptist General Convention of Texas and was also the Chairman for the Christian Life Commission of the BGCT. He has served as part of the executive board for BGCT in the past and was the 1st treasurer for the newly formed Laredo Baptist Association. He is married to Polly (RN) for the last 37 years and they have three grown children. |
